Lew Racing uses advanced manufacturing techniques to build the strongest 880 gram wheel set in the world PERIOD. DEX-LCM™ is a special technique developed for the Department of Defense (DOD) by Lew Aerospace and is now applied to Lew Racing Wheels which combines Boron and Carbon to produce the PRO VT-1 laminate.  Carbon-epoxy rims with stainless steel spokes cannot compete with the lateral stiffness and precise roundness of the PRO VT-1 wheel set.  The unique spoke design, while traditional in appearance never needs adjusting as each individual spoke is precisely inserted to create zero residual stress in the wheel.  Applying aerospace technology from unmanned aircraft, Lew Racing Wheels has designed a new low-drag airfoil section like no other that will challenge the world's best road-racing and time-trial wheels all in one highly precise wheel set.  Each wheel is dynamically balanced and is manufactured to conform to aerospace and DOD standards. The wheel is designed for racing, but you'll want to ride it every day.

Brands/ models listed have been tested and qualified by Lew Racing for use on Pro VT-1 and Pro VT-1C wheel sets.  Brands/ models not listed either have not been tested or do not provided sufficient compression force, strength or both.  Lack of compression force from the quick release mechanism will result in significant play in the axle/ bearing/ hub assembly.

Brake Pads
All types of commercially available brake pads are acceptable for use.
Cork, carbon specific, or soft pads may produce less than acceptable results, particularly in wet conditions.

Brake track maintenance in important to performance.  You can restore your braking performance to like new factory condition by wiping the brake track area using a white cotton cloth using any of the following cleaning agents:
Isopropyl Alcohol, IPA -- any concentration (best choice)
Soap and Water (thoroughly rinse away residual soap)
Acetone (may deteriorate the tire glue, but no harm to the rim)
Methyl Ethyl Ketone, MEK (may deteriorate the tire glue, but no harm to the rim)
 
Wipe the brake track region with a white cotton cloth and cleaning solvent until the cloth remains white to ensure like new factory prerformance.

All wheels are shipped with hybrid ceramic bearings (ceramic balls/ steel races).  Also included is an additional set of ABEC 5 precision steel bearings which weigh 0.255 grams more per bearing than the hybrid ceramic/ steel.
